In the digital era, children often spend hours in front of gadget screens. This habit can cause digital eye strain, which is characterized by tired eyes, blurred vision, and headaches. To reduce the impact, simple eye exercises can help children maintain their vision health.
One effective exercise is the 20-20-20 rule. Children are advised to look away every 20 minutes at an object 20 feet (about 6 meters) away for 20 seconds. This exercise helps rest the eye muscles and reduces tension from focusing on the screen for a long time.
Another exercise involves eye movements, such as rotating the eyeballs left and right, up and down, for 10-15 seconds. This exercise increases the flexibility of the eye muscles. Children can also try looking at objects near and far alternately, to train their ability to focus.
It is also important to position the screen at a minimum distance of 50-60 cm from the child's eyes and ensure that the room is sufficiently lit. Teaching children to blink regularly while looking at a screen can also prevent dry eyes. By implementing these exercises and habits, the risk of eye strain can be minimized, helping children stay comfortable and healthy while using technology.
