Protection against Cervical Cancer

Protection against cervical cancer is an important thing that can be done through several preventive steps. Vaccination is one of the main steps in preventing cervical cancer. The HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccine has been proven effective in preventing HPV infection, which is the main cause of cervical cancer. This vaccine is recommended for women and men aged 9 to 26 years.

Apart from vaccination, regular Pap smear examinations are also important for early detection of cervical cancer. A Pap smear is a simple test performed to examine cervical cells and detect precancerous changes or cervical cancer at an early stage. Women are advised to have a Pap smear every 3 years starting at age 21 or younger if they are sexually active.

It is also important to avoid risk factors that can increase the chance of developing cervical cancer. This includes not smoking, using condoms when having sex, reducing the number of sexual partners, and maintaining personal hygiene. Living a healthy lifestyle by eating nutritious foods, exercising regularly, and maintaining a healthy weight can also help reduce the risk of cervical cancer.

Finally, it is important to always consult with a health professional about appropriate cervical cancer prevention steps. By taking these steps, women can protect themselves from the risk of cervical cancer and maintain their reproductive health.
