Anti-Pollution Skincare: Myth or Reality?

Anti-pollution skincare is increasingly popular in the modern era, especially in urban areas with high levels of air pollution. These products are often claimed to be able to protect the skin from the adverse effects of pollutants such as dust particles, vehicle exhaust, and free radicals. However, are these benefits real or just a marketing strategy?

Air pollution is known to be one of the main causes of premature aging, dull skin, and acne. Pollution particles can damage the skin's protective layer, penetrate pores, and trigger inflammation. Anti-pollution skincare products generally contain ingredients such as antioxidants (vitamins C, E), niacinamide, and humectant-based moisturizers that aim to protect the skin from environmental damage.

Scientific studies support the effectiveness of these ingredients. Antioxidants help fight free radicals produced by pollution, while moisturizers create a protective barrier on the skin's surface. In addition, many anti-pollution products contain SPF to protect against UV rays, which often collaborate with pollution in damaging the skin.

However, the effectiveness of these products also depends on the overall skincare routine. Good facial cleansing and sunscreen use remain the main steps. Anti-pollution skincare is not a myth, but the results depend on the quality of the product and consistency of use.
